Worship and Spiritual Life

Spiritual Life

At SERVE Minneapolis we strongly believe that we are first and foremost here to glorify God. We take very seriously the place and practice of prayer and bringing everything before our Lord, because this is his work that we are doing. Anybody can go out and paint a house, build some stairs, play with kids, but as Christians, we are not just anybodies. Everything we do, then, throughout the week should be honoring to God and seek to bring him glory. Our speakers and worship leaders are chosen because they, above all else, desire youth and leaders to grow deeper in God’s Word and in faith in Jesus Christ. This is what leads us to worship Christ with our hands and feet in the community. At SERVE Minneapolis, be ready for a week of worship that will involve your hands, feet, voices, minds, and hearts!

Serve 2011

The theme for 2011 was SHALOM: Peace No Matter What.

The theme verse: John 14:25-27

I'm telling you these things while I'm still with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I'm leaving you well and whole. That's my parting gift to you. Peace. I don't leave you the way you're used to being left - feeling abandoned, bereft. So don't be upset. Don't be distraught.

Serve 2010

The theme for 2010 was Who Cares (God Cares).

The theme verse: James 5: 10-11
Take the old prophets as your mentors. They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God. What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You've heard, of course, of Job's staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That's because God cares, cares right down to the last detail.

Guest Speaker and Worship Leader: Adam Barr

Serve 2009

The theme for 2009 was Living Inside Out, which emphasizes that this life is not ours and it is not about us. It will focus on how we learn what God wants from us; how to put that into action; and how to live with an outward, missional focus.

The theme verse is from Romans 12:1-2: (from The Message)
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you:
Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life— and place it before God as an offering.
Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.
Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, fix your attention on God.   You'll be changed from the inside out.
Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.
Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity,
God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
